WHY FIT AN INTERCOOLER?
When air is compressed by a supercharger it is also heated, hot air isn't good for making power as it is less dense than cold air. So why doesnt Kawasaki fit an intercooler as standard to their supercharged bikes? the answer is cost, complexity & additional weight. Rather than fit additional parts to the bike they add limitations within the ECU which is much cheaper & simpler to do, when activated they reduce engine performance to minimise the chance of damage. While this works as a fix it doesn't do anything for performance & can actually reduce power by up to 30%.
What an intercooler does is reduce the intake charge temperature to a level below the where the ECU limitations are active so the engine power it kept at the maximum at all times. This is especially important when increasing boost *adding supercharger gears* because the charge temperature increases even more when the boost pressure increases.
Adding supercharger gears without adding an intercooler is counter productive & can actually make the bike run worse if the ambient temperature is high as the engine protection will become active sooner due to higher charge temperature.
What is a Hybrid intercooler kit?
Our popular NINJA H2 intercooler kit hit the market in 2017 & represents the ultimate in charge cooling performance for the Ninja H2 platform, since then we have also found that many customers feel this kit is too much for their requirements & wanted a kit that was more affordable while still retaining excellent cooling ability. This has bought about develoment of our *Hybrid intercooler kit* for the H2SXSE & Ninja H2 models.
Using the same style of intercooler core as our ZH2 kit which retains the Factory OEM plenum (air) chamber, we were able to keep the production costs in check, being a combination of our Ninja H2 & ZH2 intercooler kits we call this our *Hybrid Intercooler Kit*
Our Hybrid intercooler kit still uses all the same quality components of the Ninja H2 kit so you can be assured of a reliable quality design.
During testing we consistently achieved 25-30 DegC (50-85DegF) decrease in Charge temp with as much as 35degC (95DegF) decrease when ambient conditions are cooler & higher speeds are maintained.
This kit is not recommended for High horspower applications (300hp & above) for that we recommend using our Ninja H2 intercooler kit to achieve maximum cooling efficency.
FITTING
All parts required to fit the system are included in the kit, although you will require some basic hand tools to install the system plus a good understanding of your motorcycle & mechanical knowledge.
Full fitting instructions with plenty of photos are included.
TUNING
While not essential on a stock engine, ECU Re tuning is recommended to take advantage of the cooler charge temperature. This can also be combined with our Black Art racing supercharger gears for increased boost pressure for additional horsepower gains.
NOTE: Tuning changes may affect compliance with EPA regulations, please check with your local authorities before performing any tuning modifications.
What's included in the kit
- Intercooler core with CNC machined billet end tanks & AN-8 water fittings
- Front heat exchanger with laser cut aluminium brackets that mount to the bikes OEM radiator

- Quality AN-8 rubber hose & black anodised fittings
- Quality rubber header tank hose with tee piece
- Plug in water pump patch harness & 15A Fuse
- Custom tool for the AN fittings
- AN fitting thread sealer/lubricant
- Plenum drilling template & step drill
- Full fitting instructions with photos
- The complete kit weighs just 3.5kg (7.7Lb) dry
Coating options
Some customers may wish to have a more stealth look on their bike or add some extra protection against heat soak, so we are offering some coating options.
- Anodizing is a hard wearing coating that adds a very cool satin black finish to components.
- High temp coating is used on the front heat exchanger to give a more stealth look without affecting its performance.
BOV upgrade
Some customers may wish to change the BOV return system to a vent to atmosphere type.
We've had this Turbosmart Kompact unit custom built to suit the H2, not only is it
much higher quality & more compact it looks a lot better than the OEM unit also, oh & the sound.
